PHYSC – 1 Module
Intelligent Sensor / Actuator Processor and Interconnector (Physc -1) is the sensor and actuator facing device. It supports multiple communication protocols. Designed to accept/control I/Os, carryout low level data processing and send out data through CAN / Ethernet / Serial / USB communication protocols. Physc-1 is designed to be a configurable I/O device. The ports can be allocated to multiple functionalities as per the requirement of the solution. Multiple adaptors like Ethernet port, Bluetooth Low energy transceiver, Wireless Transceiver etc can be used for communication. It communicates with a PC mother board through a serial interface. This board of 12 cm by 6.5 cm in size has the facility to connect maximum of 135 I/Os. It has the capability to have over the air update, Wi-Fi & BLE interconnection etc The next version is in process. That will have local storage facility, additional flash memory, over-the-air run time system reprogramming facility etc Physc -1 can be configured to use a specific set of capability or a mix of them as per the demand. In addition to the ones mentioned below, it can also accept multiple adaptors like BLE adaptor and Wi-Fi adaptor. It can interface with wireless mesh using BLE or Wi-Fi. Only one type of Input or output can be connected to a slot at a time.
Physc-1 has multiple modes of communication for connecting to the Local Processing Unit and with additional Physc units.
Communication with Local processing Unit (LPU)
- The Front panel board brings out the Front panels functionalities from LPU and facilitates communication between the Physc-1 and the LPU through an optically isolated communication module
- If Physc-1 has Ethernet communication enabled, then it can be connected to a switch and the LPU can communicate through the connection facilitated through the switch
Communication with Other Physc modules
Physc-1 can communicate with other Physc-1 modules in the same location through
- Ethernet
- Wi-Fi
- CAN
- Serial connection
Communication with Router
Communication between the Physc and the Router can be achieved through
- From Physc-1 to LPU and from LPU to switch and then to the router
- Ethernet connection to a switch and then to the router
- Wi-Fi connection to the Wi-Fi router
Wi-Fi PHYSC Module
Wi-Fi Physc is the Wi-Fi enabled Intelligent Sensor / Actuator Processor and Interconnector. This is different from the Physc-1. It has a different microcontroller and a Wi-Fi transmitter. It has a base transceiver and microcontroller module and also a multiplexer module. Both the modules work in tandem. It has limited Input / output capability in comparison to Physc-1. It can manage 48 switched input / outputs simultaneously, 14 analog inputs, 1 Analog output. It can also connect one serial device and has 9 PWM output. The Wi-Fi module used along with the I/O expander provides significant capability to address most of the requirements like ATM / bank branch / Bank safe monitoring etc. The data is collated and send across the Wi-Fi network to the internet as needed. Wi-Fi Physc is designed to be a configurable I/O device. The ports can be allocated to multiple functionalities as per the requirement of the solution. This board is of small foot print of less than 50 mm by 65 mm.
Isolation Module
Electrostatic induction is a major disruptive condition to be reckoned with in the field. The operating voltage of the microcontrollers is 3.3 volts and the induced voltage can be very much in excess to make the system fail almost instantly. Webyfy has built modular optical isolation hardware for ON/OFF inputs (7 Inputs), Analog inputs (14 expandable to 28 inputs), high speed Analog inputs and Serial inputs. IRMAGS manages multiple types of actuator output. Primarily, Digital (ON/OFF), Analog (0 to 5⁄12 V DC, 4 to 20 mA) or PWM are provided. Serial communication is also available. All outputs are also optically isolated from the main controller unit. The ON/OFF controllers are in sets of seven Relays - operated according to predefined rules. Low current 12V DC applications can be directly driven without the use of any relay. These isolation boards provide an isolation up to 6 kV. This makes the system very reliable. The boards are interconnected with FRC quick disconnect. This coupled with built in diagnostics makes maintenance easy and ensures maximum availability.
Analog Input Optical isolation board with 14 inputs extendable to 28 inputs. Additional variation is the high speed Analog board, which has the over 10 MHz switching capability for precision measurement.
Digital input Optical isolation board with 7 inputs
